The indigenous people of Taimyr have sources of information which are not less significant – they are the age-old traditions of their peoples.
There is practically no such system of the human body that would not be beneficially influenced by lingonberry berries or a decoction from its leaves. This miracle berry strengthens the body of both adults and children and helps to treat colds. Did you know that, among other things, lingonberries are a real lifesaver from depression and stress? Its components improve brain function, increase stress resistance, and reduce anxiety. As a result, in the opinion of connoisseurs of such a tasty “medicine”, people have a higher mood and motivation to work. Taimyr scientists said that it is best to look for the most useful northern berry where deer moss grows.
Let us not forget about the taste. Both the berry itself and the dishes made from it are really delicious. There are only a few weeks left before the start of the lingonberry season in Norilsk. Soon, the townspeople will go to the tundra with baskets to harvest, to please themselves and loved ones. And if you’re lucky, then prepare useful delicacies for the winter – sort of jam or berries grated with sugar.
One of the desserts that can be made from frozen lingonberries now is presented not by professional chefs, but by Norilsk residents with extensive experience in home cooking – brothers Alexander and Sergey Makovetsky. They called this dish Lingonberry Waltz.
“To prepare it, take 300 grams of lingonberries, two bananas, 200 milliliters of cream with a fat content of 10-11%, 50 grams of powdered sugar, blueberries and fresh mint leaves for decoration”, says Alexander. “It’s very simple to prepare dessert: put all the ingredients in the blender and beat at high speed. Put into bowls, decorate with blueberries and mint. Voila! You have to eat it right away”.
As an athlete and adherent of healthy eating, Sergey added that even after cooking the berries in such desserts retain their beneficial properties.
“It’s an excellent source of fiber,” he said. “Lingonberry is necessary for people whose life is associated with physical activity or sports. And this is another reason to go to the tundra for berries this season”.
