“I believe that today is our common birthday, because we all love our small homeland, we try to do everything to make our children and descendants be proud of us. Happy holidays!”
Evgeny Vershinin presented the Taimyrians with well-deserved awards. The Honorary Citizen of Taimyr title was awarded to Victor Yaptune, a pensioner from the village of Nosok, and Ekaterina Kucherenko, a pensioner, a teacher with 40 years of experience who now lives in Moscow. Perhaps the most responsible mission was undertaken by the Honored Artist of Russia, theater and film actor Yevgeny Dyatlov. He promised to take the medal for Ekaterina Kucherenko to Moscow and give her a bouquet of flowers.
Later, Evgeny Dyatlov sang songs for the Taimyr people with a guitar and admitted that he was touched by the hospitality of the northerners and would not mind learning something from the Taimyr indigenous peoples practice.
Galina Gavrilova, former first deputy head of Taimyr, and Tatyana Kondratova, of the children’s art school art department teacher in the rural settlement of Karaul, were awarded the honorary sign Women’s Glory.
After the awards and the concert, residents and guests of Dudinka watched colorful fireworks in the city center.
