#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In one of the oldest mines in the Arctic, Kaula-Kotselvaara, where industrial activity stopped in 2023, cooks prepared an industrial lunch for the miners.
The requirement was that the dishes had to consist only of local products of Arctic cuisine, of long conservation period, and be easy to eat, so that the miners could have lunch right at the workplace. Natalya Sidorina, one of the project organizers, the Pechenga district’s Second School center for social projects’ deputy director, told TASS about this.
The event was attended by 10 teams – representatives of various restaurants. The first tasters of the lunches were the workers who were in the mine. They say they really liked it.
The names of the dishes from the miner’s industrial lunch are kept secret for now. They will be presented to a wide circle at the large-scale event Gastro Industry Fest, which traditionally takes place at the end of summer in the village of Nikel in the Murmansk region and attracts several thousand people annually. And the mine itself is planned to be transformed into a modern industrial tourism facility.
