#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The members of 110 IT teams will present their projects in the field of urbanism, ecology and tourism at the ArcTech Data competition for the development of digital solutions for the Arctic. Participants’ age is from 18 to 35. The finalist teams will compete for three prizes.
The Arctic is a strategically important region for the country, providing 11 percent of national income and 22 percent of Russia’s total exports. However, the harsh climate hinders the Arctic development, the region is experiencing a shortage of qualified specialists.
“To optimize the supply of energy carriers and products to the region, Eastern Center of State Planning (Vostokgosplan) has developed a digital twin of the northern delivery. The system lessens supply chains and makes delivery transparent, which reduces the final cost of imported products for the Arctic population”, said Mikhail Kuznetsov, the Vostokgosplan director.
According to him, modern digital technologies can qualitatively change people’s lives in the Arctic, make the region more attractive, where not only the mining sector is developing, but also the service economy that creates comfortable conditions for people to live and work.
The youth IT teams’ representatives will present their projects in three areas: Arctic urbanization, Ecology of the Arctic, Arctic tourism.
In the first direction, developers will create solutions to optimize the placement of urban facilities, taking into account transport accessibility – comfortable living conditions in the Arctic must be provided with a developed infrastructure. The second direction includes the tasks of developing IT solutions for the analysis of environmental problems and risks associated with mining. And finally, in the Arctic Tourism group, IT specialists will create tools for assessing tourism demand.
The ArcTech Data competition final will take place on August 11.
Earlier, we talked about the fact that the Russian Geographical Society presented the Arctic tourist routes.
