#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The youth community Myata entered the competition of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives in 2023. The victory was brought to them by the project Immersion in Norilsk – a youth exhibition of video works about their hometown. The size of the grant is over a million, co-financing amounted to 400 thousand rubles.
The non-profit organization Myata’s leaders invite schoolchildren and students to participate in the video festival-competition. The winners will have the opportunity to demonstrate their work to a wide audience, as well as get prizes: three action cameras, three tripods for video and photography, three tripods for selfie shooting.
The author of many iconic projects for young people, organized by Myata over the two years of its existence, is Anna Vorobyova. In her opinion, this time Immersion in Norilsk will not be the same as it was seen before – cultural, historical, and so on.
“I hope these will be discoveries. Each of the guys will follow an untrodden path. Their videos may show completely unexpected places where young people gather: not embellished, not combed, but alive, real. This truthfulness and naturalness is the meaning of what was conceived”, she emphasized.
The video art competition is held for young people and thanks to young people, in the anniversary year for Norilsk it is especially important for the younger generation to shine, Anna Vorobyova is sure. In her opinion, the festival will become more cool if the material filmed by the guys appears not only on social networks, but also on central city venues, through exhibitions, in gallery space:
“You can wander around there with headphones: each work will have an original voice-over: music, dialogue, or just the noise of the streets”.
