#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk Polar Drama Theater named after Mayakovsky – our Mayakovka – began with the fact that on October 3, 1941, a small group of actors arrived in the Arctic. The first season was opened a month later, on November 6, with The Hostess Goldoni’s comedy directed by Demihovsky.
This Is Taimyr has repeatedly told about the history of the northernmost theater, its unique cast, modern productions. This year, the opening of the season was the most unusual one in the history of the Norilsk drama: the audience, according to the new rules, sat in a checkerboard pattern, and from the stage the actors reminded the audience of the premieres of the past season, interrupted by the pandemic.
On the occasion of the birthday, the theater gives the Golden Calf play. Its premiere took place in March and received a standing ovation during the general run. An exhibition of photographs by Ivan Klochkov opened in the foyer as well.
The residents of Norilsk will see 25 photographs showing the performances of 2013–2020, both those that have already left the repertoire and the premieres of this year. The posters and announcements can be found on the theater’s official website – northdrama.ru.
