#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Clean Arctic movement plans to join the Rosprirodnadzor’s Bear Patrol program to preserve the polar bear and prevent encounters between predators and people.
Back in early January, the Rosprirodnadzor federal environment monitoring agency’s head Svetlana Radionova, at a meeting with Russian president Vladimir Putin, announced that the agency plans to implement the Bear Patrol project. Its task is to prevent conflict situations between polar bears and humans.
“Our volunteers will develop training seminars for enterprises’ employees. We are already preparing open lessons and interactive games for schoolchildren, webinars for tourists and those who work on shifts in the Arctic”, said Andrey Nagibin, the public environmental project head.
Volunteers intend to organize a large-scale educational campaign for schoolchildren, students, shift workers, employees and tourists. The project will cover five Arctic regions where the polar bear lives and occurs in the natural environment: Krasnoyarsk region, Arhangelsk region, Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district, Yakutia and Chukotka.
Previously, This Is Taimyr wrote about 42 polar bears counted by Rosprirodnadzor from Taimyr to Yamal. At the same time, Clean Arctic has already carried out a series of cleanups in Norilsk and Dudinka.
