#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. About 60 videos in the Nenets language are planned to be filmed in Taimyr for the first time – to get children acquainted with the national language, traditions and culture, the project author Natalya Sidorova reports.
“In 2025, we plan to film about 60 videos about the Nenets culture, language, traditional types of economy, sports. We are preparing videos specifically in the Nenets language with Russian subtitles, and they will be aimed at children and teenagers. Our idea has already been approved by the Northern Territories Development and Krasnoyarsk Region’s Indigenous Minorities Support Agency and allocated us a grant”, she said in an interview with TASS.
The project author notes that the videos will help children learn more about the Nenets culture, their traditional way of life, the features of the national cuisine and national costume. Bloggers from Yamal, specialists in Nenets culture and tourism will take part in preparing the content.
The videos are planned to be posted on Rutube and social networks.
The Nenets language belongs to a group of rare languages, which is widespread from the Kola peninsula to the Krasnoyarsk region. It is spoken by about 22 thousand people. According to linguists, the language is poorly spread among children and teenagers.
