#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Pacific Floating University expedition will set off from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on August 2.
For 36 days, the scientific team on the research vessel Professor Multanovsky will assess the state of coastal marine ecosystems of the Far Eastern seas in the context of global climate change and increasing anthropogenic load.
On August 4, the UNESCO-MSU expedition will set off from Murmansk to the Arctic. Scientists will spend 41 days on board the Academician Boris Petrov, studying the features of relief formation, sedimentation, hydrodynamics and bottom fluid discharge in the north of the Barents-Kara shelf.
“The students who got a unique chance to participate in the research of the last white spots on our planet will never forget this voyage and, I really hope, will soon reach the scientific helm of marine expeditions. It is also extremely important for the organizers that the floating university community is expanding, and the support from the state is not weakening. We wish a big voyage to the big ship, and big prospects to the big deed!” the UNESCO-MSU expedition head Grigory Akhmanov said.
As a reminder, research on the Taimyr coast is now available online.
