#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A children’s sports ground, a volleyball court, a storage room for equipment, a bicycle path, benches, barbecue and bonfire areas, parking, gazebos, restrooms – all this will appear on the territory of the Haraelah river. The head of the city, Dmitry Karasev, spoke about how the popular recreation location will change.
“Before concluding an agreement to develop the concept, we conducted a survey of Norilsk residents and the tourist community, according to the results of which the Haraelah river territory became an area for improvement”, recalled the head of Norilsk.
During this year, more than 20 meetings on improving the territory were held, at which new details were added to the project. The city hall specialists took into account all the wishes of the northerners.
“As for the Haraelah zone itself, where the camp is directly located, everyone unanimously decided that it was necessary to preserve its authenticity – leave it in its original form and not make a new urban park there”, said Vladimir Barinov, deputy head of Norilsk for information policy and prospective development.
The selected area will be a venue for various cultural and sporting events all year round. After the concept is accepted, design and estimate documentation will be prepared, and phased improvement of the location will begin in 2024.
Let us remind you that in the summer of 2023, the second extreme cross-country race NORILSK TRAIL took place in the Haraelah foothills.
