#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The tourist flow within Russia for 11 months of 2024 was 11 percent higher than a year earlier, and amounted to 79.2 million trips, reported the Russian Federation deputy prime minister Dmitry Chernyshenko’s office.
“According to the forecast, the number of tourist trips will be about 92 million and will be a record for the entire history of statistical observations of this indicator. Such growth brings us closer to fulfilling the goal set by Russian president Vladimir Putin: to achieve a five percent share of tourism in the country’s GDP and 140 million tourist trips by 2030”, TASS quotes Chernyshenko as saying.
The deputy prime minister noted an increase in foreign tourists in the Far East, mainly from China – three times in the Khabarovsk region, 2.4 times in the Amur Region, 2.1 times in Primorye.
Traditionally, Moscow (11.1 million tourist trips), Krasnodar region (9.4 million) and St. Petersburg (5.8 million) received the most tourists, while Moscow region, Crimea, Tatarstan, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen and Rostov and Stavropol regions were also among the leaders. The Republic of Tyva (plus 64.8 percent), the Chechen Republic (plus 58.8 percent) and Ryazan region (plus 46.5 percent) showed the greatest growth.
