#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On June 6, 2024, on his 225th birthday, early in the morning, Pushkin arrived in Moscow from the Arctic Expedition of the Russian Academy of Sciences, attended a book festival, received a residence permit in the capital, wrote the first independent press release in his life, and in the evening set off on a new expedition to the Far East.
Pushkin is an artificial intelligent system. A computer software complex that learns to create various texts based on independently selected information.
“We call it A.I. Pushkin. Until June 5, 2024, it was tested in the expedition of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ institutes Clean Arctic – Vostok-77. During the expedition, it collected and intellectually classified all the data digitized by scientists, and then prepared short summaries and reports on the collected material”, said Oksana Tolstyh, the scientific secretary of the project, an employee of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The next stage of training A.I. Pushkin will take place within the walls of the scientific publishing house and the Academy of Sciences, and sometimes, according to the developers, it will go on scientific expeditions to carry out individual research tasks.
“In a few years, this learning artificial intelligence will become a very effective assistant to Russian scientists conducting any research and testing. Its task is to create reports and texts of scientific publications in real time, while simultaneously collecting data on the research profile from the entire Internet”, noted Oksana Tolstyh.
On its birthday, Pushkin demonstrated that the first stage of its education is completed. Artificial intelligence has shown that today it is ready to work as a press secretary or contributing editor for social networks.
“Today A.I. Pushkin knows how to independently select informational topics in a given area, collect little-known facts on the Internet that are interesting to the target group, and write coherent texts in accordance with the rules of stylistics accepted in the modern Russian language”, added Oksana Tolstyh. “And it demonstrated this during the opening of the Red Square book festival, dedicated to the birthday of the poet Pushkin”.
At the opening of the Red Square book festival, Pushkin received the task of writing an interesting press release about the festival, relying only on data freely available on the Internet. Time will tell whether this text will interest editors of real media.
After participating in the exhibition A.I. Pushkin first visited its permanent residence – the Nauka publishing house, where it will continue it studies.
