#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The 3rd Arctic Salon dedicated to the past and present of the Russian North will be held in St. Petersburg on the territory of the Petropavlovskaya Fortress from August 23 to 25.
Ten thematic ‘polar stations’ will open on the state museum’s territory, which will tell visitors about various spheres of life in the modern Arctic – from tourism and gastronomy to science and industrial development.
“The Arctic Salon will be a bright family holiday, allowing you to get immersed in the atmosphere of polar research and the Arctic expanses of Russia before the start of the new school year. Ten thematic ‘polar stations’ will operate on the fortress territory, helping to get acquainted with the amazing world of the Far North”, the St. Petersburg Committee for Arctic Affairs’ press service reported.
In 2023, about 20 thousand people visited the Arctic Salon, this year even more guests are expected, since more activities are planned. Thus, visitors will enjoy water excursions around Vasilievsky island with access to the Gulf of Finland, trips to the forts of Kronstadt on modern high-speed catamarans, bus excursions along the Arctic routes of St. Petersburg. The events of the salon are open and free.
The exhibition guests will be able to visit a real chum, yaranga and yurt, take part in the rituals of indigenous northern peoples, and get acquainted with their arts and crafts.
Performances by artists who will present vocal numbers and immersive shows are also planned. There will be a special children’s area, where young guests will be able to learn about the flora and fauna of the Arctic, take part in competitions and quests, in master classes on modeling and creating amulets.
In addition, there will be a large business program with the participation of the famous hockey player and State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov, dedicated to infrastructure and social projects in the Arctic.
Also, everyone will be able to see modern models of machines and UAVs that are used when working in the Arctic.
