Taimyr residents to make Arctic greener

August 10, 2023

On the interactive map of the Save the Forest campaign, locations will soon appear where bushes and trees will be planted in September.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In September, the Save the Forest campaign will be held in Russia – residents of the Arctic will also be able to join it. All locations, dates and times will soon appear on the green action interactive map at сохранимлес.рф site.

Organizers will give inventory and planting material to all participants on the spot. Forest industry specialists will instruct everyone on how to properly plant a tree so that it takes root better. Trees – birch, mountain ash, pine, spruce, bird cherry, alder, lilac, larch, cedar – are planned to be planted near kindergartens, schools, cultural centers, hospitals, in squares and parks.

Daurian larch is the most common tree in Taimyr

Last year, the Russians planted more than 70 million new trees and shrubs. For example, in Dudinka, spruces were planted near the gymnasium.

Experts have found that 70 percent of the peninsula’s trees are Daurian larch. In the History Spot section, we said that Norilsk was greened together with its construction, lawns were always planted in the center of the streets.
