#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Everyone can send specially published postcards with views of Taimyr to different cities.
“The international postal flash mob Great Northern Expedition will be held under the slogan Plan a Route, Send a Postcard, Make History and will be dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences and research on Taimyr”, said Ildar Mamatov, chairman of the organizing committee of the postal flash mob.
As a reminder, since 2021, an all-Russian campaign has been held as part of the federal educational project Along the Routes of Bering’s Great Northern Expedition. On October 9, children, their parents and teachers exchange postcards, organize exhibitions and hold thematic events.
This is done to attract the attention of young Russians to the legendary history of the country, to the great geographical discoveries and to the development of postal service from St. Petersburg to Kamchatka, which was founded during the Kamchatka expeditions under the leadership of captain-commander Vitus Bering.
“This year, residents of Russia and other countries will be able to send postcards to the Taimyr peninsula, which was discovered, described and mapped by the participants of the Second Kamchatka expedition”, added the project coordinator.
To become a participant in the postal flash mob, you need to make or buy a postcard (preferably with landmarks or natural views of your area), indicate the addressee in Norilsk or Dudinka, write a few words, take a photo or video of the moment the postcards are sent to the mailbox and upload the photo and/or video to the campaign website. Participants will receive certificates, and their postcards will be kept in the museum and will form part of the exhibition, as reported by the organizers. Taimyr residents will send postcards with views of Taimyr to different cities in the country.
