#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In The Best Work of National Folk Art competition the first place was taken by the Taimyr сollege teacher, bone cutter Philip Falkov with the work Traveling Around the Worlds. In the Best Stage Costume category, the first place was won by Anastasia Palchina, a teacher of the Youth Theater Center. Sculptor Lilia Horby won second prize in the Best Contemporary Costume with Ethnic Elements category. In addition, the special prize – The Best Accessory for a Woman’s Costume – was awarded to the creative group of the craftswomen of the Dudinka Center of Folk Art Lyudmila Abdykalykova, Elena Laptukova and Galina Abaskina, and the special prize of the competition Best Regional Exposition went to the exposition Yenisey Wave – to the Heart of Russia.
Let us recall that the Taimyr delegation, consisting of 21 people, told the residents and guests of the capital about the true treasures of the peninsula, demonstrated the works of fine and decorative-applied arts masters. The site this year was decorated in the style of the visit center Everyone, Go to Taimyr! and was dedicated to the tourist attractiveness of the territory.
The visit center was adorned with the graphics of Andrey Turdagin from Volochanka, the son of the Nganasan artist Motumyaku Turdagin, who inherited his talent.
“We were all driven to a common goal and dreamed of adequately representing our land and all the treasures of Taimyr. And this is not only the ability to show the skill of our artists, but also to tell that it is no coincidence that Taimyr is translated as “rich, generous”. After all, we are really rich in both northern nature and the culture of our peoples – all five ethnic groups. A big advantage of such events is that we get acquainted with colleagues from other regions, with cultural and local lore organizations of Sahalin, Yakutia, and there is an opportunity for further joint cooperation”, said the exhibition head, the Taimyr Museum of Local Lore’s cultural and educational activities department head, Evgenia Sadovaya.
On the street platform, Muscovites got acquainted with an ethnic camp and national chums. The people of Taimyr spoke about customs and traditions.
Let us remind that the Taimyr people took many awards at the exhibition-fair last year as well. At the end of the year, the International Youth Forum of the Indigenous Peoples of the North will be held in Taimyr.
