#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In summer, volunteers help Taimyr Nature Reserves specialists in their field work – activists accompany tourists to the Putorana plateau.
Volunteer, member of the Norilsk public chamber Tatyana Skorik told us how this happens. The woman became an eco-volunteer several years ago, and says that Norilsk residents are now more actively involved in environmental campaigns and events.
“This allowed me to find new friends who want to make our northern region cleaner and more attractive, and not only to form important environmental habits among city residents, engage in landscaping and cleaning of territories, but also to cooperate with Taimyr Nature Reserves directorate”, Tatyana Skorik noted.
She recently became a member of the Taimyr Researchers Club, an official partner of the nature reserves. This is how the study of the peninsula’s protected areas began.
“I became interested in observing the phenomenon of reindeer migration, the life of the snow sheep on the Putorana plateau, the habits and survival methods of northern animals, and admiring the beauty of plants”.
“This is an incredibly picturesque sight! The plateau is not just a ‘lost pearl’, it is a place of nature power! And then I even felt a little ashamed that, flying to other countries and admiring other places’ beauty, I did not even imagine how beautiful our Taimyr is”, the volunteer says.
Summer is the most active time for the employees of the Taimyr Nature Reserves, the organization is happy to accept volunteers into its team – those who love the peninsula and are ready to help scientists and tourists.
