#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The defense took place in Omsk at the industrial tourism accelerator Open Industry 3.0.
The competition experts included the initiative into the ten best regional projects. In total, a record number of initiatives were received from 74 regions of Russia. Seven enterprises from Krasnoyarsk became participants in the accelerator, three of which were from Norilsk.
The Krasnoyarsk region team members received certificates of advanced training under the advanced vocational training program Organization of Industrial Tourism and presented the developed concept in the category Creative, Artistic and Cultural Projects and Initiatives in Industrial Tourism.
“For existing routes, we continue to develop additional presentation spaces and increase the level of competence of employees involved in industrial tourism. This will make it possible to create a multifaceted, reliable and even more pleasant impression of the industrial power of both the Siberian and Arctic parts of the region”, commented the NDA specialist in the direction of Tourism Development Ekaterina Boltacheva on the participation of the NDA team in the accelerator.
Accelerator experts highly appreciated the team’s unique approach to the development of industrial tourism in the territory of a stronghold in the Eastern Arctic – the city of Norilsk.
“No one has ever brought together an industry and an existing tourism brand before. Many regions are developing two directions in parallel. The impressive Putorana plateau, the unexplored harsh Taimyr, the riches of the subsoil, the industrial dynamic Norilsk with its ability to change itself and people – we decided to present all this to tourists under the regional brand Taimyr Changes You, thereby developing a unified visual and emotional concept”, presented peculiarity of the approach to the development of industrial tourism in the finals of the accelerator Ekaterina Boltacheva.
The development of industrially attractive points of the Arctic tourist and recreational cluster is one of the NDA’s priority tasks.
In 2023, the NDA team initiated the creation of a number of modern corporate expositions at industrial tourism enterprises. Work continues on the project of a visitor center for industrial tourism. It should become a multifunctional presentation platform for all enterprises of the city-forming enterprise Nornickel, a single starting point for excursions with full equipment and preparation for new impressions of industrial tourists who have shown a deeper interest in the territory and its industrial character.
“Today the Anhydrite mine and the Medvezhiy Rouchey quarry are open to tourists in Norilsk, which show only the first stage of mining. At the same time, other stages of the company’s work are also of great interest to tourists: enrichment, metallurgy and transportation. Therefore, we decided to create a visitor center where we could tell in an accessible form about the entire technological chain of the industrial giant’s enterprises. In the visitor center itself and in thematic museum pavilions at five enterprises, in comfortable and safe conditions, visitors will be able to examine in detail moving models of factories, learn more about the company’s technologies, its achievements, and also look into the future”, revealed the concept of the future visitor center and museum exhibitions Ekaterina Boltacheva.
At the finals of the industrial tourism accelerator Open Industry, Ekaterina Boltacheva took another award – a winner’s diploma in the PROMleader nomination – as the best curator of the regional industrial tourism team.
Museum exhibitions are expected to be created not only at heavy industry enterprises, but also at a food one – on the territory of the Norilsk meat processing plant – with a story about the production technology of northern delicacies and more.
The best practices of the Open Industry accelerator are described in the guide Everyone – to the Factory! Our region is represented by three Norilsk industrial facilities, which are already actively inviting tourists. On the Borehole Shift excursion of the Nornickel corporate university at the Anhydrite underground training site at the Kayerkansky mine, tourists are offered to operate a drilling rig. The BitCluster company, the first data center in Russia beyond the Arctic Circle, proposes to go on an Arctic Crypto Expedition. The Norilsk Bakery tells its guests the story of How Zapolyarny became friends with Ciabatta.
Let us remind you that Norilsk residents got two diplomas from the national Route of the Year award. Previously, the first Russian tourists visited the route Hatanga – Severnaya Zemlya.
