#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In Dudinka, memorial events were held dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Nganasan artist Motyumyakou Turdagin, the Taimyr administration’s press service reported.
In the Taimyr Museum of Local History’s multimedia hall, an evening of memory Taimyr Color Mosaic was held, where those gathered together with the staff of the institution remembered the biography of the outstanding and talented artist, saw his original works, known far beyond the Taimyr borders, and also tried to unravel the secret of the master, who remained faithful to the original traditions of his people all his life.
“Taimyr is very rich in talents, especially the Nya people – the Nganasans. Motyumyakou Turdagin plays a major role in the galaxy of outstanding people who have made a great contribution to the preservation and development of the Taimyr indigenous peoples’ culture. His paintings are truly living canvases that immerse you in the life and culture of the northerners. Thanks to his work, which has forever added a unique page to the book of life about the people who lived on the Taimyr land, about the great Russian people Nya”, said Tatyana Druppova, Taimyr deputy head for social policy, remembering the talented artist.
At the event, the guest of honor, the artist’s granddaughter Alexandra Samochernova, was introduced to all those gathered. She continues the creative path of her grandfather and remembers him as the brightest, kindest, most open and generous person.
“In his paintings, he depicted life, culture, northern nature… In point of fact, he captured the history of the ancient Nganasan people for us”, she shared.
Then those present watched a multimedia exhibition in the format of ‘living canvases’ – Nganasany: Journey to the Past, which was based on the graphic works of the talented figure.
The event continued with a creative meeting in the Taimyr Oikumena, where visitors were greeted by the sounds of a drum, ritual actions, ritual dances and traditional songs. And it ended with the start of the regional creative competition of fine arts for the Motyumyakou Turdagin Prize, which was announced by Alexandra Samochernova.
Earlier, we reported that the memory of Hariton Laptev was immortalized in Dudinka.
