#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk Museum took part in the second expedition to the North of Taimyr, organized by the Norilsk Development Agency (NDA). The agency employees, museum workers, ethnographers and travelers were able to immerse themselves in the life of the small peoples of Taimyr – Dolgans, Nganasans, Nenets, Enets and Evenks.
“This time the group’s route passed through the villages of the peninsula: Zhdaniha, Syndassko, Popigay, Kresty, Katyryk, Heta, Volochanka and Ust-Avam. The general goal was to determine the tourist prospects of the territory and get closer to the local population’s life”, said the museum.
For researchers, this trip is an opportunity to establish new contacts for further cooperation and replenishment of the ethnographic and historical collection.
A museum member of the expedition was the deputy director Vasily Moroz. He also became one of the speakers at the meeting following the results of the trip, where they presented the expedition members’ shots, video materials and theoretical developments.
Ahead of the experts, there is still a lot of work to describe and analyze the information received. The museum expressed gratitude to NDA for cooperation and the opportunity to participate in such a large-scale and promising project.
