#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. 206 junior schoolchildren were trained in nine thematic shifts during the seventh season of the museum summer studies.
Young ornithologists watched birds and flew kites, local historians made scientific expeditions, ecologists went hiking and collected garbage. In addition, there were art shifts for artists, programs for zoologists and ethnographers.
“The Norilsk children had an unforgettable time during these summer holidays under the careful supervision of museum mentors and teachers. At the Museum Extension, they not only learned new things and found friends, but also acquired a skill that is useful for the educational trajectory – going to the museum”, said the project curators.
In each thematic shift, three sites of the museum and exhibition complex prepared their programs: the main one on Leninsky prospect, the art gallery and the museum’s Talnah branch. The season’s novelty was Local History in English for schoolchildren aged 12-14.
The special program’s graduates have improved their speaking skills and felt like real guides who can conduct a tour for city guests in English.
This experimental program will become permanent and will be held at the museum on weekends during the academic year.
