August 25, 2021

Muscovite Elizaveta Narkevich considers the city to be the model for her paintings.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Theater and cinema artist Elizaveta Narkevich called her project Norilsk – texture perfect. The guest from Moscow at the very first meeting with Norilsk residents at the Polar Art Residence announced that she had come to the city from her paintings. What it is, you can see it tomorrow, August 26, at the final exhibition.

According to the curators of the Polar Art Residence projects, the artist has created an ‘iron quadriptych’ in three Norilsk weeks. In this series of steel ‘canvases’ Narkevich will show the very Norilsk – perfect texture, that is, an artistic study of its texture, modern life growing from the past, the material traces of which she managed to find here.

The artist has been keeping a travel diary for several years under the title Traveler Pants, where she records her personal impressions of trips.

After the Norilsk opening day, this author’s project will return home to Moscow with Elizaveta Narkevich. And steel canvases, according to the curators of the residence, have every chance to replenish the collection of contemporary art of the Norilsk Museum.
