#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Day of Nature Reserves and National Parks (January 11) was celebrated in Sochi with the participation of the Taimyr Explorers Club (KIT) leaders Larisa and Stanislav Stryuchkov. Norilsk residents talked about the wild nature of our peninsula, about the life of people in Taimyr cities and towns.
Thus, the polar KIT continues cultural and educational cooperation with the country regions. Norilsk local historians told about the meeting in Sochi on the club’s page on the VKontakte network.
Not only Sochi residents came to the visitor center of the arboretum to celebrate the Day of Nature Reserves and National Parks, but also vacationers who came to the resort from all over the country during these days. The festival guests showed great interest to the ecologists’ story about the natural features, historical and cultural heritage of the first national park of Russia (this is what the specially protected natural area in Sochi is) and took part in a nature reserve quiz.
“And we, in turn, transferred the participants of the meeting from the southern borders of the country to the Far North – told them about the most striking wonders of Taimyr, a real peninsula of treasures”, said Larisa Stryuchkova. “There were many questions – what seems familiar to us, northerners, is exotic for others. They asked about the black blizzard, what Putorana snow sheep eat, whether warming in the Arctic is noticeable and much more”.
Earlier, the Taimyr Explorers Club established a special prize for participants of the Arctic project Let’s Write a Fairy Tale Together. In January, Norilsk will host a presentation of a collection of 15 best school essays – The Adventures of Arktishka and Atomka.
