#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk museum’s PolArt-residence is opening today the exhibition Winter Dream and Its Inhabitants. Mythology of Snowy Norilsk based on the results of the project by Vladimir Seleznev, an artist and curator from Yekaterinburg.
The resident will present the results of the artistic study of local snowdrifts in search of the new city mythology in collaboration with Norilsk residents from 8 to 76 years old through fictional mythical characters – residents of snowy valleys and snowy cities.
“Now the heroes of one winter dream in reality will tell their amazing stories of the snowy world. Images and texts reflect the subtle work of the artist with memory, urban culture and the need of citizens for co-creation, collective and individual fantasy and the mythical composition of their Norilsk history. The context of the place is emphasized by a series of graphic landscape works by Vladimir Seleznev, the artist scaled the selected characters in the drawing and placed them in the exhibition space for closer visual contact”, the organizers said.
