#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Preparations for the ice sites construction are underway: contractors are cutting out ice, which is being stored in blocks in the Dolgoye Lake park.
As the head of the city department of major repairs and construction, Dmitry Samorodov, said, this year both ice and snow figures will appear in the city. The city will be decorated with fairy tale characters familiar to everyone since childhood: Pike and Emelya, Teremok, Golden Fish, Firebird and others – more than 40 ice figures in total.
“Traditionally the main sites will be the Dolgoye Lake park, Teatralnaya square and the Zapolyarnik stadium. But, taking into account how difficult the current year is, the city administration would like to symbolically celebrate the work of all doctors, so in the area of two covid hospitals – in Oganer and on Kirov street – we will install two Thank Doctors ice sculptures equipped with lighting. In addition, since this year is an anniversary year for celebrating the Great Victory, its symbol will appear near the Eternal Flame”, said Dmitry Samorodov. “About 450 ice blocks have been prepared, preparation has been going on for a week. Fortunately, the weather favors the ice construction.
The preliminary date for the opening of the snow sites is December 19. The contractors will maintain the them until April, when snow starts melting.
