Reflection to be festival’s leitmotif

August 23, 2023

The second public art festival started in Norilsk yesterday.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The City of Infinite Inspiration public art festival is taking place in Norilsk for the second time from 22 to 26 August.

“The leitmotif of this festival is reflection. The reflection of the city is its people, urban space and art objects. Throughout the event, participants will have the opportunity to take part in various interactive activities with an immersive effect”, the organizers say.

During the week, the city citizens and guests are going to participate in master classes from leading Russian artists and masters of various areas of street art and the creation of new urban art objects.

Yesterday, on August 22, demonstration master classes for guests began to work in the City Cultural Center – this is an opportunity to try yourself in various creative directions: mosaic, stained glass, epoxy processing, drums, Latin American dances.

Citizens and craftsmen will create new art objects. On the arches of houses No. 28 and No. 40 on Leninsky prospect there will be a mosaic mirror panel, a painting by numbers and a panel of plastic covers that were collected during an environmental campaign launched by the organizers a month before the start of the festival. In the book yard of the public library at 20a Leninsky prospect, an art object will be made of metal wire in the form of hands holding a book.

At the festival closing on August 26, a show-concert with a program from DJ BALDIN and a kaleidoscope of bright stage performances from the leading dance and vocal groups of the region will be organized for the townspeople. A detailed program is available on the website norilskfest.rf.

Earlier, art facades with citizens’ birth stories appeared in Norilsk, an amulet was embroidered for the Arctic Museum of Modern Art, a mosaic panel The Sun of the Arctic was opened in the city for the 70th anniversary of Norilsk, and Norilsk residents presented installations in Moscow on the theme of waiting for the sun.
