#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Famous Norilsk photographer Mikhail Podolyak captured a rare pink aurora for the latitude of the polar city.
He took the pictures on a rainy night from September 12 to 13. It is interesting that the natural phenomenon was observed almost simultaneously over the Moscow region, in the Leningrad, Yaroslavl, Vladimir, Kirov regions, and over the Urals. Experts say that this is due to a solar flare and a strong magnetic storm.
“I wasn’t going anywhere, the sky was overcast, it was raining. I almost fell asleep, but my friends photographers started posting the aurora. It cheered me up! I decided to take towards Alykel”, Mikhail told the This Is Taimyr. “I managed to capture those wonderful colors, which are not so common in our latitudes, at least as long as I take photographs – I have never seen pink in such abundance. The glow is usually green or purple”.
Earlier, the Norilsk resident showed the Taimyr meadows flowering.
