#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The children’s art school named after Boris Molchanov hosted a presentation of the social project Hearth Smoke on His Canvas, supported by the World of New Opportunities Nornickel’s charity program.
The authors of the project note that its main goal is to create conditions for the Taimyr indigenous peoples’ traditional arts and crafts and fine arts development and preservation.
The art department teacher Svetlana Lisova said that the social project Hearth Smoke on His Canvas is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the artist Boris Molchanov. He taught at the children’s art school in the early 1980s, and then created an experimental class for tundra children on the basis of a boarding school.
“It is symbolic that the children’s art school branch opened in Volochanka, where Boris Molchanov, as a child, studied at school”, she noted.
According to the project, master classes in fine arts, embroidery and beadwork, as well as leather and fur work will be held for children. Competitions, exhibitions and excursions, meetings with representatives of the creative intelligentsia in Volochanka and Dudinka, lectures dedicated to the memory of Boris Molchanov are also planned.
One of the significant events of the project will be the development and opening of a virtual museum. Exhibits for its creation will be provided by the project partner – the Taimyr House of Folk Art. The creation of such a museum will allow people from different parts of the world to get acquainted with the artist’s work.
