Powerful anticyclone brings heat to Taimyr

March 17, 2022

Forecasters predict temperatures above normal by 10-15 degrees.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A powerful anticyclone will bring abnormal weather to Russia – it will be cold in the south, and warm in the north.

Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, told TASS that an amazing situation will develop in the country this week. In the south of the European part, the temperature is predicted to be 4-8 degrees below the norm, and in the North-Western Federal District – above the norm by 6-12 degrees.

The highest temperature anomalies – up to 15 degrees – expect Taimyr and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District. And the most noticeable negative ones – up to 7-8 degrees – are predicted in the Volga region, in the Urals, in the south of the Krasnoyarsk region and in the Irkutsk region.

In March, weather forecasters promised frosts down to minus 40 degrees in Taimyr. In the first two weeks of March it was really cold, the air temperature was below minus 30 degrees. Today in different parts of Norilsk it is minus 18-22 degrees with an east wind of 5 to 12 meters per second.

Earlier, we told that the Norilsk people had photographed a beautiful solar halo and met the first sun after the polar night.
