#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In the Taimyr Museum of Local Lore for preschoolers and elementary school students, the Meeting the Sun Festival is held.
Museum scientists tell young northerners about the holiday and the traditions of meeting the sun after a long polar night. Children participate in games where they show physical endurance, dexterity and ingenuity.
On January 22, a concert Meeting the Sun will be held in the Dudinka House of Culture with the participation of the honored folk art group of the Russian Federation, the song and dance ensemble of the North peoples Heiro, which means ‘rising sun’ in Dolgan.
The polar night at the Norilsk latitude began on November 30. The day and night change period will end at the end of March. Twilight and white nights will take place from March 27 to May 19, and from May 20 the polar day will come, which will last more than two months.
