#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The prestige of the residency continues to rise, with a competitive ratio of 14 applications for each available spot. Opinions among the experts often varied widely.
A particularly large number of applications focused on revitalizing the city’s heritage, urban narratives, and the collection of the Norilsk Museum. One distinctive feature of the PolArt residency, compared to other art residencies across the country, is that it was established by the city museum. This connection has consistently offered artists significant opportunities to work with museum collections and archives.
The winners and residents for the ninth season of the PolArt residency in 2025 are:
Oksana Vinogradova (Moscow) with projects Voice of the Permafrost and Dancing Buildings;
Elizaveta Klevantseva (Tomsk) – a ceramic series inspired by Nikolay Urvantsev’s expeditions titled Layering;
Philipp Krikunov (Paratunka, Kamchatka region) and Vyacheslav Mizin (Novosibirsk) – Ice Age. Norilsk. A new Norilsk mythology viewed through the lens of Siberian ironic conceptualism;
