#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk Development Agency (NDA) showed sketches of a new tourist and recreational zone in the area of mount Schmidt. The new place of tourist attraction concept was developed in cooperation with the ludi_architects architectural bureau.

Mount Schmidt is located on the industrial outskirts of Norilsk
Schmidt mountain is the place from which the history of Norilsk began. On the mountain slopes there are remains of buildings and structures, coal mines, a narrow gauge railway and other objects that historians, tourists, guides and stalkers have long been interested in.
The mountain offers a magnificent view of the entire Norilsk valley and the majestic Haraelah mountains – the Putorana plateau spurs.
At the townspeople’s request, the NDA included the viewing platforms and the tourist route construction on mount Schmidt among the priority projects of the master plan for the Arctic tourist cluster. A convenient staircase and three viewing platforms at different heights will be built on the mountain – 240, 350 and 425 meters.

“Architects propose to equip each site with a covered pavilion – it will be much more comfortable to admire the city and hunt for the northern lights this way. On the slope of the mountain, it is planned to equip a tour route with a total length of over five kilometers”, the NDA said.
Everyone can get acquainted with the mount Schmidt tourist and recreational zone concept and express their wishes. Public discussion will take place today, November 10, at the NDA’s Kitchen of City Ideas on Komsomolskaya street, 33a.
