#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Over 50 years, the enterprise has produced more than 215 million tons of ore. But the deposit is not depleted; reserves will last for many years. The mine plans to reach a production rate of seven million tons of ore per year. This means that the team will grow with new employees, and working at Octyabrsky will be prestigious.
“The most important thing is the people, the team. The mine is getting younger, but the mentors’ age ranges from 45 to 50 years. Not only the team is getting younger, the specialties are also being updated. Mechanical labor is being replaced by automation. More and more equipment is switching to remote control, in particular from the surface. To perform underground work, unmanned technologies are being introduced. But production is impossible without people. Modern technologies help, but do not replace people. They save energy and make underground work safer”, said Andrey Chernov, head of the planning center at the Octyabrsky mine.
Maxim Terentyev, drilling rig operator, fan driller, has been working at Octyabrsky since 1999. 25 years is a personal silver anniversary and 50 years is a golden anniversary for Octyabrsky. Maxim is an experienced specialist and mentor and can compare how it was and how it is now. Over the years of work at the enterprise, he has gone from mechanics to automation, from a mining worker to a fan driller.
“Working in a mine is not easy in every sense. Requires resistance to stress, attentiveness, good reaction, willingness to make decisions instantly, and the ability to bear responsibility. I came to the mine’s 50th anniversary in pugnacious spirits. I think that everything will be fine; this is not the last 50 years for Octyabrsky. There will be more”.
Let us remind you that the Octyabrsky mine is the largest underground mine in Eurasia.
