#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. All nuclear icebreakers of Atomflot – Arktika, Sibir, Ural, Yamal, 50 Years of Victory, Taimyr and Vaigach – celebrated the New Year in the waters of the Northern Sea Route (NSR).
On the ships, the sailors created a homely atmosphere: a Christmas tree in the wardroom, a festive ship’s menu, and gifts exchange.
As reported by the Atomflot’s acting director general Leonid Irlitsa, the captains traditionally congratulated their crews on the New Year over the speakerphone.
During the voyage, the nuclear icebreakers’ teams work around the clock in shifts. In the first week of 2023, icebreakers are laying a route through Cape Zhelaniya.
Earlier we told that the Yakutia nuclear icebreaker would sail ships in the Dudinka direction, the names of two new Arktika series icebreakers will be chosen by popular vote, and a polar bear made a compliment to the Vaigach nuclear icebreaker’s chef.
