#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. From August 15 to 26 this year, the new project Northern Orchestral Academy will allow young talents not only to improve their performing skills, but also to get acquainted with an amazing place on the map of our country – the northernmost city of Russia – Norilsk.
“The Academy will be an important step in involving the youth of the northern and Arctic territories in proactive cultural activities, and will allow children from other Siberian regions to join the unique world of the Arctic”, emphasized Evgeny Stodushny, general director of the Krasnoyarsk philharmonic.
The application campaign will last until July 14. Students of children’s art schools, music schools, secondary specialized and higher music educational institutions aged 14 to 25 years old, studying in the fields of strings, brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments, can get into the orchestra.
Master classes for young Siberian artists will be conducted by teachers of the Yury Bashmet’s educational center. The session will result in performances by the orchestra at the Polar Drama Theater named after Vl. Mayakovsky and in the natural location of Norilsk.
“Norilsk is becoming a place of increasing attraction not only for tourists and officials, but also for talented young people who get practice here in their future profession, sports and creativity. I am sincerely proud that such a cultural event will take place in our city, and young talents from all over the Krasnoyarsk region will not only be able to improve their performing skills, but will also get acquainted with the culture of our Arctic city. Of course, holding such events in the open air has already become a good tradition in many Russian cities. Now, on the eve of Miner’s Day, Norilsk residents will have the opportunity to enjoy their favorite works in a natural location in the vicinity of Norilsk. An event like this always means growth, both in terms of image and in terms of the development of culture, art, as well as increasing tourist attractiveness”, noted the Norilsk city head Dmitry Karasev.
The VII educational session of the Siberian Youth Orchestra will be held with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Yury Bashmet’s educational center, the Norilsk Development Agency and the Norilsk city administration.
