Northern Fleet pilots set several records in Arctic

April 11, 2024

The achievements were included in the Russian Federation Armed Forces’ records book.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Russian Armed Forces’ book of records has been replenished with several achievements by the Northern Fleet mixed air corpse’s pilots in the Arctic.

In particular, in August 2023, for the first time in history, naval fighter aircraft crews on the Su-33 flew to airfields on the Arctic ocean islands and confirmed the possibility of using fighters at Arctic airfields to cover objects, including on the Northern Sea Route.

In addition, the Su-33 went on combat duty for the first time in history, taking off from the Rogachevo airfield on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago and the Nagurskaya airfield on the Franz Josef Land archipelago. Thus, the reliability of aircraft and the ability to perform tasks on the islands of the Arctic ocean were confirmed.

The Northern Fleet naval fighter aviation regiment’s commander was presented with a certificate of inclusion of his unit’s achievements in the Book of Records of the Russian Armed Forces.

Earlier, the This Is Taimyr reported that a Northern Fleet expedition found more than 50 ships at the bottom of the Arctic, as well as about a record in the Arctic for a Northern Fleet helicopter.
