The crew first landed the Ka-27 on Yaya island in the Laptev sea.

#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The crew of the Ka-27 helicopter of the naval anti-submarine helicopter regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Northern Fleet, under the command of captain Dmitry Nazarov, landed a helicopter on Yaya island in the Laptev sea for the first time in history.

The landing took place from the side of the Admiral Levchenko anti-submarine ship in 2022, but the information became known to the public only now. The fact was put down into the Armed Forces’ Book of Records. Last year, it was replenished with 32 new records and now contains 447 achievements, the Northern Fleet’s press service reported.

Recall that the Severomorians have repeatedly conducted exercises in Taimyr. Last autumn they played hockey with the Norilsk team. A year earlier, a ship of the Northern Fleet in the area of Franz Josef Land clarified the borders of Russia: the sailors surveyed 11 000 kilometers of the bottom. The This Is Taimyr also reported that the Vaigach icebreaking steamer, which sank in 1918, was found in the Kara sea.
