#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The annual regional exhibition of Norilsk and Taimyr authors Northern Collection: Art of the Krasnoyarsk Region’s North Artists opened in the art gallery of the Norilsk Museum for the eighth time. The exhibition is organised by the Norilsk administration’s culture and arts department and the Norilsk Museum complex.
The exhibition includes authors who have already specialised artistic education, members of creative unions and associations, as well as young authors for whom the exhibition is a chance to make a name for themselves.
“This year we’ve received more than 200 works from 78 authors. From them, the exhibition committee selected works of special artistic interest in the professional community and for a wide audience. The exposition includes works from Norilsk, Dudinka and Igarka. These are paintings, graphics and works of decorative and applied art”, the Norilsk Museum specialists told.
“Despite the fact that formally we call this project an exhibition-competition, there are no competitive evaluations as such. We don”t measure anyone by any standard. Everyone is a winner, everyone is good. This is an exhibition where we try to show the best and the most relevant things, that our artists are working on. It is important that this is a professional competition. And we will keep it”, said Natalia Fedyanina, the Norilsk Museum and Exhibition Centre director.
“It’s a pleasure to participate in this project – I got much pleasure selecting works for the exhibition. It is gratifying to see that new names appear every year. We can already tell from the works we are looking at that something new is emerging, new techniques and fresh ideas. It is interesting to watch this”, emphasised architect Mikhail Volgin, a member of the Northern Collection 2024 exhibition committee.
The exhibition will run until 19 January 2025 in the art gallery on Talnahskaya street, 78. The Pushkin card is available for schoolchildren and students.
Earlier we told that the Norilsk Museum opened an exhibition dedicated to Vladimir Dolgih – a real guide to the life of the man who did so much for the northern city.
