#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Nornickel’s battery technology center will focus on the development and research of battery materials based on unique (by Russian standards) technological equipment, which allows for the entire cycle of synthesis and testing in specialized conditions.
The opening of the new center marks a new stage in the company’s activities aimed at developing technological competencies in the promising sector of nickel-containing cathode active materials – one of the key components for modern batteries. This was reported by the company’s press service.

Nornickel is investing significant funds in the development of new research and development potential, which is also intended to become an important element of the company’s global strategy to expand its technological competencies.
“The creation of a scientific base for the production of cathode active materials meets Russia’s goals to ensure a full cycle of production of batteries for electric vehicles”, commented Vitaly Busko, vice president for innovations at Nornickel.
The first samples of cathode materials of the NCM 811+ specification have already been obtained at the Nornickel research center, and further work is planned to develop new products. It is expected that the results of the battery center’s work will form the basis for launching promising projects to create production facilities in the field of battery materials in the future.
