#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Updated awards models, which were received by the Norilsk Mining and Metallurgical Combine named after A.P. Zavenyagin in the Soviet years, appeared on the facade of the Nornickel Polar Division administration building.
Irina Shestakova, a teacher at the Norilsk children’s art school, worked on the restoration of the orders.

“We carried out the restoration in September, the orders were removed and brought to our school”, said Tatyana Mozgovaya, director of the Norilsk Art School. “There was a request from the company to carry out such work. Irina Shestakova, a graphic designer by her first education, was one of those who worked in art workshops in Norilsk. And the workshops were organized by our first director, Nikolay Loy, after whom the school was named. Irina has a fairly broad qualification and extensive work experience”.
Nornickel provided the school with the necessary materials.
“To start the restoration, the paint layers had to be removed. The orders had been tinted with simple paint, so we cleaned out the first few layers. Irina puttied the burst spots, then applied acrylic paints and a special varnish layer so that the orders were frost-resistant and did not fade”, added Tatyana Mozgovaya.

The restoration took two weeks. The awards were waiting in the wings, and this week they were installed on the renovated building facade.
“We are glad that we have the opportunity to be involved in the preservation of the city and the company’s historical heritage”, added the Norilsk Art School director.
