#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The AN-26 aircraft at the Nadezhda metallurgical plant’s (NMP) site, where the first airfield of the northern city was previously located, was decorated with bright architectural lighting. Let us recall that the monument to Norilsk aviation was opened in July 2012 at the company’s expense. In 1965, the Nadezhda airport was closed due to the commissioning of the new Alykel airport. In the late 1970s, a metallurgical plant was built on the site of the runway, which inherited the name Nadezhda.
The aircraft itself, which was installed at the NMP, belonged to the Zapolyarye airline. It was released on February 3, 1977. It carried out regular flights from Norilsk, and when its resource was exhausted, it was written off. The aircraft had been stored in Norilsk since the late 90s. The aircraft was delivered to the pedestal without wings, in tow.
The illumination on the monument was installed by specialists from the Energoinzhenering company. The enterprise has been operating in the Norilsk industrial region since 2019. In the northern city, it implemented a project to re-equip the functional outdoor lighting of the central district. The company began working on the AN-26 memorial illumination project in mid-May.
“This is a unique situation. We got full support from Nornickel, the department of the chief power engineer. The company contacted the manufacturer to shift the production deadlines, and promptly deliver the equipment to Norilsk. For us, each project is unique, since it has its own characteristics in terms of construction and installation work, technical features. For example, the Octyabrsky mine – for us it was a pilot project to create an imitation of a thermometer on one of the pile drivers. The AN-26 memorial illumination project is a landmark project for us. It was completed entirely using domestically produced equipment. We used lighting equipment from a leading manufacturer from St. Petersburg: both the lamps themselves and the control systems. The lamps can operate at temperatures down to minus 60 degrees”, said Alexander Drobchik, director of key account management at Energoinzhenering.
Full-color lamps were used in the work – they can be controlled via the Internet from a mobile device. You can set any scenario, color dynamics.
“We implemented two lighting scenarios. The first we called “flight mode” – this is an everyday scenario. For 30 minutes, the object will be illuminated in white, then we show a simulation of takeoff – and so on in a circle”, said Alexander Drobchik.
And in weekend mode, the object will play with full colors.
As reported by Dmitry Kasyanenko, the Nornickel Polar Division’s chief power engineer’s department’s electrical engineering department head, the illumination was installed as part of the project Nadezhda metallurgical plant named after B.I. Kolesnikov. Sulfuric Acid Neutralization.
This is a significant project for the company. Commissioning of the facilities included in it is important not only from the point of view of the production chain modernization, but is also a major image campaign aimed at a positive image of the company. The total funding for the AN-26 memorial illumination amounted to 6.4 million rubles.
Recall that Nornickel enterprises have been delighting northerners with bright illumination of industrial facilities since last year.
Now the buildings of administrative and household complexes and headframes of the Octyabrsky, Taimyrsky, Mayak, Komsomolsky and Skalisty mines, the smokestacks of the Nadezhda metallurgical and copper plants – a total of 21 objects – are shining with LED lights.
