#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The agreement was signed by the president of Nornickel Vladimir Potanin and the governor of the Saratov region Valery Radaev. The agreement provides for joint work on the development of human resources in the region and professional training of employees for the Nornickel enterprises, the development and implementation of educational programs in conjunction with specialized universities in the Saratov region.
Another important area of cooperation was support for the region during the pandemic and other force majeure situations. Thus, as a charitable aid, Nornickel provides support to museums and monasteries in the region. As part of the fight against coronavirus, the company allocated 50 million rubles to provide medical institutions with medicines and ventilators, provided tests and personal protective equipment for the Saratov diocese.
According to the Nornickel’s president Vladimir Potanin, the Saratov region is a relatively new region for the company.
“From the very beginning, we see a serious interest of the authorities in investors and willingness to meet halfway. When we have territories that operate like the Saratov region, it gives us hope that we, as a whole country, will be competitive and developed. We were pleasantly surprised by the human and scientific potential of the region. The new agreement provides for the continuation and expansion of cooperation, primarily aimed at training new personnel, to support higher education. We confirm our commitment to productive joint work, as we plan to actively develop both our Saratov Service Center and complex IT services in general”, noted Vladimir Potanin.
Governor Valery Radaev commented that it is important to create conditions for business development, as it helps the region to develop.
“We position ourselves as a region with strong higher education and human potential. And it is fundamentally important that Norilsk Nickel prepares specialists not only for itself, but also opens up new prospects for the region”, Valery Radaev said.
The governor thanked the company for its support in the fight against coronavirus:
“In the difficult time of the epidemic, you supported us with protective equipment and medical equipment”.
As a reminder, Norilsk Nickel began working in the region in 2015, when a project to create a Shared Service Center (Nornickel – SSC) was launched in Saratov, which today is the company’s transaction and expert center. It maintains accounting and tax accounting, prepares and maintains reports, manages treasury and HR functions, and provides a wide range of IT services around the clock for more than 30 Nornickel enterprises located in different regions of the country. And in 2019, the first agreement was signed between Nornickel-SSC and Saratov State University.
