#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. On September 25, 26 and 27, Krasnoyarsk youth theatre will tour in Norilsk and Dudinka, on the stages of the Norilsk polar drama theatre named after Mayakovsky and the Dudinka city house of culture.
The play Everything is Like Everyone Else’s – the last season premiere – was loved not only by Krasnoyarsk audiences, but also sounded in the Russian theatre space. The play became a laureate of the Svoy solo performance festival (Yekaterinburg, 2023) and a nominee for the Golden Mask national theatre award (drama/small-scale performance). In addition, the leading actress, honored artist of the Krasnoyarsk region Elena Polovinkina, was nominated for the national theatre award Golden Mask (drama/female role).
“In modern literature, personal memories of ordinary people have become very popular. They have even been singled out as a special genre – autofiction. If translated literally, this is ‘self-invention’ – a description of real life events, twists of fate and ordinary everyday situations in which facts are combined with fiction and family legends. It is these memories that formed the basis of the performance in the genre of autofiction. The artist Elena Polovinkina does not play anyone in it, she just talks about herself and her family, about her ancestors, among whom were Latvians, Germans, Russians, about vivid memories of childhood and youth, and not only her own ones”, the tour organizers share.
“It happened that I have four notebooks of family memories – mine and my mother’s. I did the right thing by persuading my mother to write down her childhood and non-childhood memories. At first, she refused, saying that she couldn’t do that, doubting that anyone needed it, but finally she agreed. My mother remembered herself from the age of four, that is, from 1941. This was a wartime childhood, hunger, then post-war life, work, children. In general, everything is like everyone else’s”, adds Elena Polovinkina.
The members of the production team realized that some moments echoed their own memories. This is what unites many residents of our country. The performance is in tune with the Family Year declared by the Russian Federation president and reminds us of family values, the value of the historical memory of each person and their family.
“We hope that after the performance you will become a little closer to each other and, perhaps, you will also start collecting your own and your family’s memories. Save your history. It is certainly interesting, because the life of each person is unique and unrepeatable”, the play authors note.
