#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The Norilsk Development Agency’s projects received the most prestigious award in the field of architecture, design and visual communications – Best for Life Design Award 2023.
In the Project of the Year category of the Spaces & Places block (Art Objects category), the award was given to the Norilsk street art gallery ARcTica. Art panels and art objects created over the four years of the project’s existence decorate all areas of Norilsk.
In Kayerkan, Norilsk residents and city guests are greeted by Owl (Norilskaya street, 20), at the entrance to Norilsk, there are two murals: Bear with a Bear Cub (Krasnoyarskaya street, 4) and Deer (Krasnoyarskaya street, 3). Two elegant works added variety to the city space: Lucky Goal (Kirov street, 27a) and Ancient Goddess Head (Oktyabrskaya street, 16). Several 3D illusions also appeared: Balloons (Komsomolskaya street, 33a), Dirigible (Moskovskaya street, 4) and Mars Rover (Talnah district, the Mayak mine environs). The ends of two houses opposite the former maternity hospital (Bogdan Hmelnitsky, 23 and 27) were decorated with personal stories of Norilsk residents associated with their birth.
In the Art Project of the Year category of the Art & Design block (Preservation of Cultural Heritage category), the NDA was awarded for the Sun of the Arctic project. The Sun of the Arctic – the NDA’s gift for the 70th anniversary of Norilsk – this summer decorated the end of house No. 38 on Kirov street. Teams of craftsmen led by Pavel Yudin, a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia and the International Federation of Artists, worked on the reconstruction of mosaics of the Soviet period and the creation of The Sun of the Arctic panel.
As part of the NDA’s project, the panels Builders, Cosmonauts, Olympians and Metallurgists were reconstructed with silicate paints using the mosaic painting technique.
Prizes from the organizers at the official award ceremony were received by Victoria Chulanova, head of the city environment development direction of the NDA, and Karina Andreyeva, head of sociocultural and educational projects of the NDA. All agency projects are implemented with the Nornickel’s support.
“The Best for Life award is intended to emphasize the importance of providing the consumer market with high-quality goods and services in the field of construction, renovation, interior design and landscape design, thanks to which both living and working spaces, as well as recreational areas, are not only ennobled, but become comfortable and environmentally friendly”, says the NDA website.
As part of the award, a forum was held: its business part was devoted to trends in the field of architecture, industrial, digital and communication design.
