#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. A special summer offer was prepared for students of 6th-8th grades (12-15 years old) by Norilsk museum workers – Local History in English. Those who know this language well will be able to become participants in the new educational program.
“This summer we focus on Taimyr. Museum classes will improve the spoken English skills in the process of getting to know the history of the native peninsula more closely on the museum’s collection basis”, the organizers said.
A museum teacher will become a senior mentor and mediator for teenagers.
Together, members of the Museum’s English Conversation Club will hone their language skills through scientific knowledge of history, biology, paleontology, geology, geography and ethnography based on exhibits from the museum’s collection.
For teenagers, items that are usually kept in closed storage facilities and are shown only at exhibitions will become available.
The course Local History in English is a cycle of classes that includes thematic blocks Taimyr Nature, Taimyr Indigenous Peoples and The Russian North Development. Norilsk Discovery. After studying each section, club members will be able to show their new skills and knowledge in the open excursion format for their family and friends.
