#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. The NDA invites everyone to celebrate the polar night on November 30. In total, more than 20 sites will be open, each based on the associations of northerners with this magical time.
The Big Midnight Life will fill the creative space of the NDA. Here, guests will enjoy media art and watch films; talk about literature and zines; become participants in an immersive performance by the Mr. Pejo’s Wandering Dolls theater and spectators of theater readings; hear music of different genres, try to catch the movements of butoh dancers, make a small ‘midnight’ souvenir with their own hands and count the polar nights they have lived through. Coaches and psychologists will conduct 22 individual consultations so that life during the period of great darkness is balanced and fulfilling.
This year, the Midnight Relax space has supplemented the cozy area with hammocks with the media art studio Luch.pw with the Fluctations installation, created at the intersection of science, technology and art.
Especially for Midnight, Creative Guests are returning to the creative space. The M’ARS Contemporary Art Center will present an exhibition with performance elements, created in a unique double image technique – LUMINIS.
Another participant in the NDA Creative Guests project is the Wish Fulfillment Choir.
A vocal noise improvisational art project of professional vocalists will also come to meet the polar night together with Norilsk residents to give a chance for the most cherished wishes of the midnight guests to come true.
You can also join the Big Midnight Walk in the recreation park Lake Dolgoye during all 24 hours. Midnight guests will need warm clothes to ride on Finnish sleds and giant skis; get lost in the snow labyrinth and contemplate the sky, settling down in soft lounge chairs. Step by step following the artist, you will be able to draw a picture in the snow, and when the time comes, the characters of the play Months will put the guests to bed.
For the new Midnight, snow Midnight Igloos will appear in the recreation park Lake Dolgoye. Here you can take a break from sports competitions on giant skis and fast rides on Finnish sleds, take shelter from the wind and warm up a little. And if you want to warm up thoroughly, you can always return to the warmth of the creative space, to the Big Midnight Life.
The Midnight program is going to be supplemented, but is already available on the website.
