#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. Experts named the most successful examples of tourism in the Arctic at the international forum The Arctic: Present and Future in St. Petersburg.
More than 300 residents are implementing tourism projects worth 126 billion rubles in six regions of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation – the Murmansk and Arhangelsk regions, the Krasnoyarsk region, the Nenets and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Districts, the Republic of Karelia. Entrepreneurs create new hotels, recreation centers and glamping sites, build tourist routes and expand tourist complexes.
A third of all announced tourism projects – more than 100 – are implemented by the Arctic residents. The total investment portfolio exceeds 37 billion rubles. Their launch will make it possible to employ two thousand northerners.
At the same time, experts believe that tourism for the northern regions cannot be massive – the nature of the Arctic is very fragile.
Founder and CEO of RussiaDiscovery Vadim Mamontov named cruises along the Yenisey among the most attractive places for adventure tourism in the regions.
Victoria Chulanova, the Norilsk Development Agency’s deputy director for the city environment development, shared examples from the practice of creating tourism projects:
“In Norilsk, we offer to walk through the gallery of street mosaics with the Soviet period scenes or become a pioneer of a new city route with totems and symbols of the North. The fans of IT technologies and underground labyrinths have access to the northernmost crypto-farm and the underground test site in the Anhydrite mine”.
Earlier we wrote that a new hotel will be opened in the city by the New Year.
