#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. In the Norilsk Museum park, the centenary of the First House, built by Nikolay Urvantsev’s geological exploration expedition in the summer of 1921, was celebrated. Norilsk residents call it Urvantsev’s House.
In the First House of Norilsk, a ceremony of cancellation of postage envelopes specially issued for the significant date took place.
As told in the mayor’s office, the signatures and impressions of the postmark on the envelopes were left by the city head Dmitry Karasev, the Nornickel Polar branch director Nikolay Utkin and the acting head of the Norilsk post office Olga Volkova.
One of the signed copies will be handed over to the Norilsk Museum, the rest of them could be purchased by Norilsk citizens.
In total, Russian Post issued 50 thousand anniversary envelopes.
The program for the 100th anniversary of the First House of Norilsk was developed within the framework of the Anniversaries project, which was recognized as the winner of the World of New Opportunities competition by Nornickel.
Earlier we wrote that the main photo event of the Polar region started in Norilsk – the exhibition TaimyrPhotoGoda-2021 was opened in the museum.
