#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. JSC Norilskgazprom is implementing a large and important project for the Norilsk gas supply to construct five wells at the Pelyatka gas condensate field (GCF).
An agreement for the drilling and commissioning of new production wells at the Pelyatka gas condensate field was concluded with the drilling contractor, Gazprom Shelfproekt JSC. A kick-off meeting on the well construction project was held with its representatives at JSC Norilskgazprom.
Currently, five wells are operating at well pad No. 4, and as many more will be drilled within the new project.
Three of the five wells are planned to be inclined and two – with horizontal ends.
“The new horizontal wells will have a horizontal section of record length among other wells at the Pelyatka gas condensate field. It is more than 500 meters, this is optimal for achieving high gas inflows in these mining and geological conditions”, noted deputy general director for geology and field development – chief geologist Gennady Ryazantsev.
The project to drill five wells at the Pelyatka gas and condensate field is part of the development strategy of Nornickel’s energy complex to maintain the required volume of gas production and provide blue fuel to the Norilsk industrial region.
New equipment will be delivered to the field from the Yekaterinburg Uralmash plant. Drilling of the first well is going to begin in the spring of 2024.
Commissioning of the wells is scheduled for June 2026 after connection to the already built gas collection system. New wells will increase the reliability of gas supply to the Norilsk industrial region during the period of maximum winter gas consumption by enterprises.
