#ARCTIC. #SIBERIA. THIS IS TAIMYR. By the end of the year, leading Russian theater experts and critics will have to watch 47 performances staged last season in 18 theaters of the Krasnoyarsk region.
In the Norilsk Polar Drama Theater named after V. Mayakovsky, experts will evaluate the Kolchak the Polar play – the production of the chief director Anna Babanova based on the play by Mikhail Durnenkov and three performances by invited directors.
In the festival application the theater included Gogol’s The Players by Vladimir Danay (Smirnov), Chehov’s Ivanov by Marat Gatsalov and Bloody Wedding staged by Sergey Potapov after Garcia Lorca.
What the jury will choose will become known by the end of the year. Usually experts come to Norilsk after reviewing the proposals of all the theaters in the region.
Among the members of the jury this year, there are Vladimir Speshkov and Oksana Kushlyaeva who know the Norilsk Zapolyarny theater very well. Last season, together with Gleb Sitkovsky, they included the first Russian staging of Florian Zeller’s play Papa (directed by Anna Babanova), the plastic play Dreams of the White Land by Yevgeny Ibragimov, Timur Fairuzov’s play My Brother and The Snow Queen by Anna Babanova.
Due to coronavirus restrictions, the 2020 festival was held online, and the awards ceremony was postponed from March 27 to December. Honored Artist of Russia Sergey Rebry was among the winners for the best male role in the play Papa.
The organizers of the Theatrical Spring – 2022 expect that in the new season the performances included in the festival program will be seen offline by the audience of the regional capital as well where there are many fans of the Norilsk theater.
